Vancouver Art Gallery

The Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) is an art museum in Vancouver, BC. It is the largest art museum in Western Canada by building size and occupies 165,000 sq ft

The Vancouver Art Gallery's permanent collection serves as a respository of art for the Lower Mainland region and has approximately 12,000 works by artists from around the world. The museum also organizes and hosts a number of travelling art exhibitions.

In April 1931, the Vancouver Art Gallery Association opened the art museum to the public at 1145 West Georgia St on October 5th, 1931. The building featured four galleries which also included a sculpture hall, lecture hall and a library. The cost to construct the building was approximately $40,000.

  1. Turn right out of the hostel and walk down Granville St until Robson St and turn left onto Robson St.
  2. Walk down Robson St until you reach Howe St.
  3. The Vancouver Art Gallery will be on your right.
